Vertical Slump – Ruined Value – Album Review by Killian Laher

Vertical Slump are a group made up of members of Shopping, Gloss Rejection, Omi Palone and Circuit Breaker. It opens with Tether, propulsive guitars and heavy handed drums with Simon Marsham’s doom-laden vocals over them. His vocal dominates Chanteurse, barking “take what you want, know what you need” over a track reminiscent of early Cure, all angular guitars and jerky rhythms. Sentinel and Alter follow in a similar vein, barrelling along in an exciting fashion but without leaving a huge impression. With some more distinctive songs, these guys could be worth looking out for.
