Album of the Week – 30/01/26

It’s official, January is almost over! We’re a good, solid month away from the shortest day of the year and starting to enjoy the ‘grand stretch’! Ok, it’s also been raining for most of the last week, so maybe you should stay indoors and listen to some new sounds?

There is a new album from one of the Animal Collective, in Geologist (Can I Get A Pack Of Camel Lights?). There is also something fairly fascinating from Tyler Ballgame called For the First Time, Again.

This week, we’re heavy on new Irish releases, with Ye Vagabonds (All Tied Together) and Pilgrims (Paul Noonan and Brian Crosby of Irish indie bands Juniper and Bell X1) called Wintering. For our album of the week, we’ve gone for the 3rd studio album from Ailbhe Reddy called ‘KISS BIG’.

Album of the Week — Ailbhe Reddy – KISS BIG

“KISS BIG is an album about the end of a long-term relationship (classic, really) and the disorienting aftermath of losing the person you built a life around. It explores feeling untethered from them, yourself, who you thought you were and the world. As well as how, with time, everything rearranges and restarts. The cyclical nature of love and endings. The way we keep beginning again, regardless of how we say we won’t.”
