Album of the Week – 14/11/25

This week sees new music from Nightmares on Wax (Echo45 Sound System), Sword II (Electric Hour), Blondshell (Another Picture) and  BICEP (CHROMA 000).

There are some odd releases from Pavement, including Hecklers Choice: Big Gums and Heavy Lifters and the Pavements: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack. If you’re a hardcore fan, they would be worth checking out. There is also a best-of release from the underappreciated Doves (So, Here We Are: Best Of Doves).

Technically, our album of the week isn’t a collection of new songs, but it is definitely a new release, with The Notwist’s Magnificent Fall. It’s some rarities from one of Germany’s finest. Rules are there to be broken…

Album of the Week – The Notwist – Magnificent Fall

“Magnificent Fall”, The Notwist’s new rarities compilation, collects some special and wild moments from this unique German indie group’s rich history. They’ve always snuck gorgeous songs and thrilling remixes onto split singles, extended plays, and other formats, across their career, and pieced together here – compiled thoughtfully, with sensitivity to flow and the listening experience – these thirteen selections work as a kind of ‘shadow narrative’ of The Notwist, an alternative index of the possibilities this shape-shifting group uncovered during their time together.
