Some great new sounds this week from some big names. We have the return of Kate Pierson (of The B-52s) with her new album Radios and Rainbows which is suitably upbeat! There are also releases from Jake Bugg (A Modern Day Distraction), Julian Casablancas + The Voidz (Like All Before You), Pale Waves (Smitten), Thurston Moore (Flow Critical Lucidity) and Galaxie 500 (Uncollected Noise New York ’88-’90).
There are also some impressive new sounds from Joan As Police Woman (Lemons, Limes and Orchids) and Katy J Pearson (Someday, Now). In the end and after much deliberation, we’ve gone for the new album from Honeyglaze, a trio from South London.
Album of the Week – Honeyglaze – Real Deal
“Honeyglaze’s second album, Real Deal, and first for Fat Possum, feels like their coming of age moment. The band have taken the foundations laid on their debut and focused it into a mammoth record filled with crashing riffs, devastating vocal performances, and nuanced breakdowns, resulting in a mature, complex record grappling with negative relationships, the mundanity of adult life, and identity.”
