Album of the Week – 26/07/24

This week we have a new live album from Bill Callahan. We were a little underwhelmed by it and you can read our review here.

There is also an epic-sounding album from Humanist called ‘On the Edge of a Lost and Lonely World’. It’s definitely worth checking out and you can do so below.

For our album of the week, we went for Crack Cloud, who are a “Canadian musical and multimedia collective currently based in Calgary, Alberta, formed by drummer and frontman Zach Choy”. This is their 3rd album and it’s called Red Mile. The Guardian said the lyrics were written “with such wit, bite and the kind of perfectly scanning rhyme”. We tend to agree…

Album of the Week – Red Mile by Crack Cloud

Crack Cloud – 29 September-Whelans, Dublin

“[Pain Olympics] illuminates the joy, camaraderie, and compassion that can exist in even the most unforgiving, isolating circumstances.” —PitchforkJagjaguwarare thrilled to announce the arrival of Canadian art punks Crack Cloud. Today, the band announce their new album, Red Mile, out July 26th, and share its captivating lead single/video, “Blue Kite.” Additionally, the band have announced North American, UK, and European tour dates. After self-releasing their expansive and genreless first two EPs and two albums, the band —now composed of Zach Choy, Aleem Khan, Bryce Cloghesy, Will Choy, Emma Acs, Eve Adams, and Nathaniel Philips—have re-emerged as a lean, focused rock outfit, and are joined by creative director Aidan Pontarini. Red Mileis their most mature and vital work yet.”
