Album of the Week – 17/05/24

Do you remember Of Montreal? They were meant to be the new indie supergroup at some point. They’re from Athens, Georgia, the home of many an indie band. Their new album ‘Lady on the Cusp’ is released today!

Otherwise, there are new releases from Ani DiFranco (Unprecedented Sh!t), Death Cult (Paradise Now), Isobel Campbell (Bow To Love). There’s even a new release from Billie Eilish (Hit Me Hard and Soft).

We’ve gone for the debut solo album from an old friend in the form of Beth Gibbons. That voice would melt the hardest of hearts…

Album of the Week — Beth Gibbons – Lives Outgrown

“Later, the foreboding Beyond The Sun has a fair amount of drum work and strings, before the album finishes with the unremittingly sad sounding Whispering Love. The track is arguably the most gorgeous on the album, with a real sense of finality to it. There’s a heavy sadness permeating the entire album.
