Continuous Patterns – IMMA – 14/07/23

Continuous Patterns continue tonight at IMMA.

The IMMA Summer Party is definitely not just another music festival!  The evening started with a guided walk in the Gardens discussing Biodiversity with Sandra Murphy! Next up was Barry Kehoe, a member of IMMA’s visitor engagement, who gave a talk on the history of the site including a walk around the cemetery. My takeaway from the talk is that if you’re ever planning on taking control of Dublin, Kilmainham is a good place to start!

The music side of things was mainly based in the courtyard, with Qbaana opening the evening, with some Cuban-Irish sounds! Next up was some funky tunes from Bricknasty, the Ballymun-based five-piece. The undoubted highlight was Jape with a taster of his new album ‘Endless Thread’ which included songs like ‘Fuck the Church’ and the new single ‘Heal these Wounds’. There was still time for old favourites including ‘I Was a Man’ and ‘Floating’.  It was lovely to have him back on our shores and stages.

The event was definitely one of the more quirky happenings in Dublin, but the craft beers, cocktails and food trucks kept the punters happy. Even the weather played its part, with only a few moments of rain! Fingers crossed day two is as lucky…
