New Music – Matt Maltese – Vacant In The 21st Century

A piano based track from Matt Maltese that builds into something quite lovely. The video is also impressive with a collection of lonely souls and the Union Jack slowly being ripped apart! Wonder what they’re talking about there…

Check it out below.

Matt Maltese has unveiled a striking video for his Hugo White (The Maccabees) produced new single, ‘Vacant In The 21st Century’. As the title suggests, the track explores themes of disillusionment with the establishment. The political undertones of the track centre around a sense of social unrest and for the video Matt Maltese along with director Kris Rimmer (The Big Moon) sought to express this through a series of individual characters.

Maltese explains further: “We aimed to depict some byproducts of modern day society – the disillusioned youth getting drunk as the world melts away, the self-obsessed twins jerking off to their phones, the dysfunctional couple whose everyday tasks drive them to the insanity and beyond. All together inside one divided, decomposing, politically correct country.”
