It’s another week during the sleepy period, but I’m doing my best for you people! It’s not a classic, but there’s a good bit on around the city if you’re willing to have a look.
There’s the best of Music on Film with Films of Note Festival at the Sugar Club. The big movie release of the week is Suicide Squad, and will be interesting to see it after Bats v Supes taking a battering from the critics. Yorkston/Thorne/Khan at the Workman’s Club is the gig of the week (with little competition!).
There’s a few new pieces of theatre, with Eamonn [from menswear] and Pygmalion at Smock Alley. There’s also the early previews of Observe the Sons of Ulster Marching Towards the Somme in the Abbey.
In the world of festivals, the Kilkenny Arts Festival is the big one that starts this week. There’s also the Dublin Comic Con from Aug 6th to 7th.

I can hand on heart recommend one gig next week and that’s Yorkston/Thorne/Khan at the Workman’s Club. Otherwise there’s very little worth a mention on in Dublin this week! It’s a fact, sad but true. We’d recommend the Strypes in Leopardstown and otherwise, maybe a trip to Kilkenny? See what you can find below…
