If you are in or around the Helix over the next few weeks, there’s an exhibition there that is worth checking out. John Conway is a Dublin based artist that graduated from Visual Arts Practice at IADT Dun Laoghaire. His exhibition CAVALRY runs until 15th of November.
They ride with speed, armed and caped, divine, legendary. These riders are some kind of supernatural beings en route to do battle with our minds, exacting a swift military campaign on our imagination. When horsemen ride what do you think of? Hero’s or conquerors, myth-makers or myth-breakers?
In 2011 John graduated from Visual Arts Practice at IADT Dun Laoghaire. His artistic practice is focused on drawing and painting. His work has appeared at Garter Lane Arts Centre (2013), Leitrim Sculpture Centre Open Art Exhibition (2012), ‘He tells of the Perfect Beauty’, Hawk’s Well Theatre’s 30th Birthday Exhibition in Sligo (2012), the ‘RDS Student Art Awards’ at the RDS & Farmleigh Gallery (2011) and ‘Wings’ at Waterford City Library (2010) as part of Imagine Arts Festival. He is also a member of South Dublin Artists Forum.
You can check out more of John’s work at his blog here, and more about the exhibition at the Helix website here.
