Those wonderful people at Improvised Music Company are offering one lucky reader two tickets for the gig in St. Audoen’s Church this Saturday (5-10-2013). All you have to do to be in with a chance to win the tickets is tell us the name of Solo Cissokho’s nephew who is performing with him on the night (the answer may be below, you never know). Fidil & Solo – nationwide tour 1st – 6th October

Groundbreaking young fiddlers Aidan O’Donnell and Ciaran Ó Maonaigh from FIDIL will be joined again by seventh generation griot Solo Cissokho and his nephew Seckou Keita in this entertaining musical dialogue between Donegal and Senegal.

With their adventurous approach to the fiddle, coupled with the depth of lore and tunes of the Donegal tradition, Fidil are worthy talismen for a new generation of Irish traditional musicians. Solo Cissokho is a master of the kora, the regal 22 stringed harp with its beautiful cascades of rippling notes and addictive West African grooves, while his nephew Seckou brings an irresistible rhythmic accent with Senegalese percussion of djembe and calabash.
