Upstream Color is the new film from the director of Primer, Shane Carruth. I’m not hugely a believer in the director as the only name worth mentioning in the production of a film, but this really is his baby! He’s basically done it all, as he wrote, directs, acts, camera operates, edits… He even scores the bloody thing! It’s getting rave reviews in most directions.

The Way Way Back is the other movie that’s worth checking out (the ones below, they ain’t so good!). This looks a bit like a lost John Hughes movie to me, as it’s a warm, coming of age movie with a lost teenager. It stars Steve Carrell, Sam Rockwell and newcomer Liam James has the main role as 14 year old Duncan.  Reviews are pretty positive.

You’re next is one of those horrors where a bunch of people are stuck in a house, with people outside wanting to get in. Is that a genre? Average reviews for this new release from the director of VHS, Adam Wingard.

Pain and Gain is a Michael Bay movie. Does that mean anything to you? The main behind all of the Transformers movies, Bad Boys series and Pearl Harbour has taken a break from franchise making to do this vaguely comic story of a hostage situation starring Mark Whalberg.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaah, One Direction, aaaaaaaaaaaaaah. My nephew (aged 4) is now a massive fan of these guys, Jedward are now yesterday’s news as these guys dazzle. The reviews are better than expected, but it’s still only one for the fans.
