Bennie Reilly – artist, musician and illustrator extraordinaire – opens her new solo exhibition Rara Avis on September 4th, 6 – 8pm, in the Royal Hibernian Academy, Dublin. It’s her first solo show since last year’s Something Thrown & Caught (Talbot Gallery, Dublin) and given the quality of the work in that exhibition, this will be well worth a visit. Rara Avis runs until October 23rd and here is the artist’s statement in support of the show:
In Rara Avis, I present winged creatures as visual puzzles. By endeavouring to be playful and varied with technique, providing an economy for the images to unfold and for inviting imagination to mingle with the visual oddities already present in nature, my intention is to produce paintings that are as peculiar as their inspirations, yet singular in their workings.
