So, what’s new in the picture houses this week then? Well, the answers to this and many other important questions are below.

Richard Gere is growing old gracefully! There, I’ve said it. This wasn’t what I expected from him at all. His new movie Arbitage is getting good reviews from most quarters, and stars Susan Sarandon and was directed by Nicholas Jarecki (who has a very short CV to be directing a movie with those two names in it). He plays a business man who makes one big bo-bo.

Arbitage – In economics, is the practice of taking advantage of a price difference between two or more markets. Yes, that’s straight from wiki!

Old Boy writer and director Chan-wook Park returns with Stoker, and again it gets the thumbs up from the critics. It looks fab! I’m sold anyway.

It stars stars Nicole Kidman, Mia Wasikowska, Matthew Goode

There’s also Broken City starring Mark Wahlberg and Russel Crowe. God, listen to Russel Crowe’s accent. Could you really listen to that for 2 hours? It’s about politics, private detectives and other goings on. The critics are giving it pretty average to poor reviews.

And then there’s the rest, the ones to ignore or pretend they never happened! Hansel and Gretel seems king among these movies, but Safe Haven doesn’t seem far behind.  Seriously, who thought Hansel and Gretel was a good idea? Who thought this movie would ever make money? Takes all types I guess.
