Oscar season is almost at an end, with only Flight (with Denzel Washington) released this week among the runners. Oscar season is like a sugar rush, with two or three movies per week that are worth seeing (in some sense), now we are about to hit the come down, so enjoy it while it lasts.
What is it about Denzel with modes of transportation? I wouldn’t travel with the guy, as something always goes wrong (Unstoppable and Pelam 1 2 3). In this movie, he’s a pilot who lands a plane against impossible odds, but while just a little bit drunk. It sounds an interesting movie, and with Robert Zemeckis at the helm, it’ll be well made anyway. The critics don’t get too excited though, with a pile of average reviews, and you can find our review here.
Otherwise, Bullet to the head doesn’t seem to be Stallones return to form that the world is waiting for, as none of the critics seem to like it (would they ever?). Bullhead seems like the most interesting release of the week, it’s the story of Belgium’s illegal steroid trading, and gets top notch reviews in all the places I checked out.
Men at Lunch is an Irish language documentary made by TG4 about the men having their lunch on a steel beam hanging over New York in the most famous of construction shots from the 1930’s. I Wish is a Japanese story of two separated Japanese brothers, one living with his Mother and one with his Father. It looks cutesy!
