First off, I’ve found a new favorite movie critic. Here he is on Prometheus – “The characters seemed to exist only there to die. Like slaves in an Egyptian tomb. And good riddance to them. Vain and decadent characters no better than place cards. No one had a conscience, No one had anything to say, All selfish and blind and sucking whiskey and champagnes and living the high life on a ship furnished by high end furniture stores and pricey holo screens (that already look dated), pissed off under the cynical thumb of selfish corporate masters.”. Any guesses before you find out who?
Two movies this week, a battle of the titans, Paul Thomas Anderson versus Michael Hanneke go head to head! I guess it doesn’t really matter when films like these come out, all those who want to see them will make the effort, and the rest will ignore them and go to Twilight! As expected the critics all wet themselves over both works. The Master and Amour both get five star reviews in the Guardian, The Irish Times etc.
Otherwise, the final installment of Twilight gets surprisingly good reviews (by that I mean average ones, as I was expecting it to be torn apart!). There’s a documentary on metal guitarist Jason Becker that is well reviewed, and Mental by PJ Hogan (Muriel’s Wedding) which sounds a bit poop!
