Owen Pallet is playing cork tonight as part of the bill for Fleet Foxes in the marquee. The good news is that he’s slipped in an unannounced gig in Whelans tomorrow, with tickets at only a fiver. They’re being sold at the door and first come first served, so I’d expect a queue!

So many musicians seem to love playing Whelans, I’ve heard the lead singer of Teenage Fanclub saying almost exactly the same thing a while ago, add to that Tuneyards, Howe Gelb and about a hundred others. You’re never sure whether singers actually mean what they’re saying, or are just trying to send the crowd home happy, but the compliments seem to flow all too often for this venue!
