First and foremost, I’ll give you the happy news that ‘The Beaver’ is getting bashed by every critic in town! Maybe it’s an easy target, Mel Gibson’s movie about a man suffering from depression and deals with it through use of a hand puppet. Jodie Foster directs and co-stars, and I guess she was always going out on a limb casting Gibson, but the movie just sounds ill conceived from the start! Strangely they’ve used Frightened Rabbits with ‘Swim until you can’t see land’ on the soundtrack. Who knows how that one came about!
